Two QWM electronic weighbridges were recently commissioned at Wagner’s new cement loading facility in Brisbane’s river suburb of Pinkenba. The weighbridges are located directly under the cement loading silos to allow the trucks to be filled according to the net weight of cement registered by the weighbridges.

Electronic weighbridges are required to have a one metre clearance around each load cell for servicing needs and for approvals inspection access to each weighbridge load cell. In this installation, special dispensation waS REQUIRED from the QLD Weight & Measures Dept due to the building’s structural beams infringing on the required clearance around the load cells of each weighbridge.

Both weighbridges measure 28m long by 3m wide with the concrete decks fitted flush with the entrance and exits bays of the building for ease of truck access. Eight 30t WBC weighbridge load cells are fitted under each of the heavy concrete weighbridge decks for a total weighbridge weighing capacity of 80t using dual weighing ranges.

Weighbridge repairs were performed on an aging feedlot weighbridge owned by the University of New England at Armidale in northern NSW. Weighbridge repairs were necessary due to multiple failures of the existing weighbridge load cells fitted approx 18 years ago.

Accuweigh’s Newcastle branch repaired the weighbridge by fitting a new set of Flintec stainless steel weighbridge load cells. Although the original Phillips load cells were still available, the Flintec load cells were a more cost effective solution for repairing this weighbridge due to recent improvements in load cell design that significantly reduces load cell manufacturing costs.

Ultrahawke in Melbourne supplied the Flintec weighbridge load cells with custom made adaptor plates to ensure the weighbridge repairs were able to be completed quickly and problem free. A new digital weight indicator was also fitted to the weighbridge and connected to the clients existing ticket printer for recording the movements of cattle entering and leaving the feedlot.
