Costa Mesa, CA - Laurel Electronics, Inc. announces the Laureate Model TA-WM, an isolated 4-20 mA or 0-10V output, DIN rail mount transmitter and controller for load cells, strain gauges and microvolt signals where high accuracy and stability are required.

In load cell applications, the Laureate TA-WM can power up to four 350-ohm load cells in parallel using a built-in, isolated 10 Vdc, 120 mA excitation supply. Connection to a bridge can be via 4 or 6 wires. With 4-wire hookup, the transmitter operates in a ratiometric mode to eliminate errors due to supply variations. With 6-wire hookup, it also compensates for variations in transducer lead resistance, thereby allowing long cable runs in changing temperature environments.

The Laureate TA-WM provides sensitivity down to 20 mV full scale with 1 µV resolution. Load cell accuracy is 0.01% of full scale ±2 counts at update rates to 60/sec. Such high rates are ideal for peak capture, alarm, control, and computer interface.

Functionality is enhanced by firmware. An adaptive digital filter with selectable time constants can quiet the output in noisy environments, yet responds rapidly to changes in level that exceed a threshold. Scale and offset can be entered either manually or by using actual calibration signals. For weighing applications, auto-tare is standard to subtract the weight of an empty container.

The load cell transmitter is housed in a 35 mm DIN rail case, which is only 22.5 mm (0.89") thick. It is powered by 95-240 Vac ±10% or optionally by low voltage 8-28 Vac or 9-37 Vdc. All electrical connections are via detachable screw clamp connectors.

Two isolated solid state relays rated 120 mA at 125 Vac or 240 mA at 150 Vdc are optional for alarm or control. Programmable relay operating modes include operation above or below the setpoint, latching or non-latching, hysteresis mode, and band deviation mode.

The transmitter includes an RS232 port and is easily programmed using an external PC and Windows-based Instrument Setup software. This software applies to all Laureate digital panel meters, counters, timers and transmitters, and can be downloaded at no charge from Laurel's website www.laurels.com.
