EMC belt scale installation and applications

This arcticle is about the installation and applications of the belt scales from EMC.

The manufacturer EMC recently won a contract to supply two EMC Dual Idler belt scale system to Scotland.

The contract included commissioning and our Weighing Manager, John Ball, had the pleasure of being on-site in Scotland during December - at least the hospitality was warm!

The application is in a MDF plant and required the belt weighing of wood chips using two 800mm wide, EMC B152 Dual Idler belt scales to weigh up to 105 tonnes per hour.

One belt scale weighs the wood chip prior to screening (for oversize chips, etc) and the second belt scale is installed after the screen and totalises the amount of wood chip being fed into the production silos.

This system provides the operator with a variety of information such as the amount of wastage and whether sufficient chip is entering the storage silos to maintain production at the required levels.

Each belt scale was supplied complete with an EMC 1495 belt scale Processor fitted into a waterproof field enclosure.

Installation and commissioning went smoothly and continued accuracy better than 0.5% can be expected.

EMC belt scales for all applications

EMC have been manufacturing Belt Weighing Systems for more than 30 years and have a wealth of knowledge regarding their weighing application in all industries and with a diverse range of materials.

EMC belt scales provide a simple and accurate way to measure the flowrate of bulk material passing along a conveyor belt and typical industry applications include aggregates, fertiliser, coal, sand, wood chips, vegetables, tobacco, detergent powder, etc.

They are used for production totals, production rate measurement, stockpile sizes, inventory control, flow control and blending and are available in both single and dual idler formats together with EMC electronic processors.
