PURPOSE AND BENEFITS
Fairbanks’ Load Cell Transmitter is ideal for customers who have a tank scale, or other scale, that’s tied to a system that reads a 4-20 ma output. Common applications that use 4-20 ma interfaces are PLCs and other process control devices. Also called a “blind transmitter” because there is no visual display, this device provides a very simple, low-cost alternative to installing an entire instrument on a tank scale or any scale that’s interfaced to a 4-20 ma signal. Fairbanks' Load Cell Transmitter is made for use in applications that don’t require high speed filling, display capabilities, high resolution, or communication other than 4-20 ma. TWO MODELS AVAILABLE Fairbanks 420 Standard Series: This series is designed for use in non-hazardous areas. It produces an excitation voltage of 5 VDC. This model is capable of developing a full 4-20 ma signal while requiring a live load of only 33 percent of the total capacity.
Fairbanks 420 FM Hazardous Area Series: This model is designed for use where Factory Mutual Class I, II, III; Division I, 2; Group A, B, C, D, E, F, G approval is required.

This transmitter offers complete 3-way isolation between power supply, input and output and is designed for mV inputs from loadcells, strain gauges and strain gauge pressure transmitters.
The stable bridge excitation voltage powers up to 4 load cells and includes sense feedback to compensate for line variations.
The precision instrumentation op-amp front end circuit ensures high accuracy and stability. The adjustable digital damping feature allows for a stable output in noisy systems.
This instrument meets CE and C-Tick EMC and EMI and Low Voltage directives.
The analogue output is programmable for 0-20mA / 4-20mA or 0-10V output. RS232 communications is standard with DIGIbus protocol.
