Accuweigh’s Brisbane branch used load cells to confirm the weight distribution of a support structure being fitted over oil storage tanks at Caltex’s Hemmant depot in QLD.
The load cells confirming the correct weight distribution as part of an OH&S requirement to ensure safe handling by the crane used to lower the structure into place above the oil storage tanks.
Four 30t capacity Flintec load cells with self contained mounting hardware were used to complete this task for Downer EDI with each load cell connected to individual Avery 1005 digital weight indicators to ensure individual weight reading from each corner of the structure was attained.
The load cells confirmed the net weight of the support structure to be in line with projected weights of approx. 60 t from the design engineer. The support structure measures 4m high x 4 wide x 18 m long and will hold associated pipes, fans and pumps.
