Procon Engineering's Drum Weighing System provides a robust and cost effective solution for weighing chemical storage drums up to 1000kg. It is Using fully welded stainless steel shear beams.
The weighing system is integrated within a rugged floor standing cradle manufactured from rolled steel channel and this design ensures a simple yet safe method for batch weighing the drums.
Depending on its application, this frame incorporates either two load cells and two pivots, or four load cells.
The use of fully welded stainless steel shear beams ensures that the weighing system is compatible with the harsh environment found in such applications.
These load cells can withstand 200 % overload and overload shock bolts can be fitted for additional protection.
The frame has four hard wearing nylon coated steel rollers mounted on the top surface which allow the drum to be rotated to the correct position for the connecting of any pipe work.
The load cells are connected via a waterproof junction box to one of Procon's Digital Weight Indicators or Weighing Transmitters.
These indicators have the facility to key in the varying tare weights of the drums which are then subtracted from the gross weight to give the nett weight of the contents.
This ensures that full drums can be made available before the in-use drum is empty.
If required, the weighing indicators can be provided with alarms which can be set to indicate when a low level is reached.
A further feature of the weighing system is that information can be re-transmitted to PLCs, PCs or SCADA systems.
If required the weighing systems can be set up so that information can be sent remotely via telemetry links.

Although designed primarily for use in Water Industry dosing, the drum weighing system is suitable for a wide range of applications where large drums are used horizontally for the dispensing of expensive or hazardous products.
