Goettingen - In the food and pharmaceutical weighing and batching industries, the bar is raised continually with respect to process reliability. At the same time, the requirements on flexibility increase as well. Changing products on the production line, changes in the production sequence, and ever-smaller production quantities are the order of the day. To meet these challenges, Sartorius extended its Synus series of industrial weighing machines by introducing the new model CoSYNUS – a combination of a metal detector and a weighing machine. This future-oriented product provides maximum flexibility along with the highest possible accuracy, reliable detection and high throughput. Thanks to its consistently modular design and wide range of accessories offered, from conveyor systems to diverse evaluation electronics as well as a choice of dimensions, models in this series can be seamlessly integrated into any production process. What makes the new system unique is the option of upgrading SYNUS weighing machine to CoSYNUS in just a few simple steps, resulting in a industrial weighing machine with an integrated metal detector. The electronics of the metal detector are integrated into the weighing control electronics of the weighing machine. The metal detector is operated using the field-tested and proven SYNUS industrial weighing machine user interface. A single interface can be used to configure two machines quickly and easily, which saves time. When there is no floor space to spare in production, a single CoSYNUS is the space-saving alternative to solutions with separate industrial weighing machine and metal detector. Moreover, technology, support and service for both metal detector and weighing machine are all provided by a single source: Sartorius.
Another decisive advantage is that the base data records only need to be entered once. Management and documentation of all parameters for the metal detector are product- and batch-specific. Thus, the HACCP, IFS and ISO22000 requirements defined for equipment testing are all met.
Rugged and precise
SYNUS/CoSYNUS models are available in a variety of mechatronic levels. What they all have in common is the characteristic shape, reminiscent of the sine curve that the series is named for, permitting flexible but form-fit and friction locked attachment to the conveyor system. This guarantees a superior degree of mechanical stability with maximum flexibility. Moreover, all models are distinguished by the monolithic electromagnetic force compensation (EMC) weigh cell from Sartorius, specially developed for dynamic industrial weighing machines. Its most impressive features include the exceptionally high precision combined with extremely short stabilization times, unbeatable stability and rugged, industry-grade construction (IP protection rating: IP54; IP65 optional).
The design engineering of the cantilevered SYNUS weighing and conveyor batching system makes it easy to replace belt and weighing and batching tables, thanks to the belt's quick-unlock mechanism. These are easy to remove, to ensure easy cleaning as well as the best possible hygiene.
For evaluation, too, the SYNUS weighing machine family of electronics weighing systems includes a broad range of features. Even the most basic model, SYNUS 6, has a 6.4'' color TFT flat-screen monitor and a generously proportioned keypad. For even easier operation, the SYNUS 10 has a 10.4'' screen, while the top-of-the-line SYNUS 15 model has a 15'' TFT color touchscreen.
