Effortless weighing calibration for large silos and vessels

Leading precision weight instrumentation experts Sensor Techniques are introducing their DAS72 industrial digital Weight transmitter, providing effortless calibration for large silos and vessels

Sensor Techniques are introducing their DAS72 industrial digital Weight transmitter, providing effortless calibration for large silos and vessels.

This versatile and cost effective weighing module provides a simple and easy method for calibrating industrial weighing calibration systems, without the need for calibration weights or flow meters.

This high precision unit has already been shown to be particularly effective for high capacity systems.

Calibrating large vessels and silos can be a daunting and costly task especially if there are no built-in facilities to apply calibration weights.

Even then applying sufficient load is usually impractical, especially in view of health and safety regulations on lifting.

The most common calibration method is to fill the vessel with a known amount of material that has been weighed on a weighbridge.

However once the material has been added, removing it to check the zero, except through normal process usage, is not possible.

As a result many large vessels are not correctly calibrated, resulting in a range of cost and process related problems.

By contrast the DAS uses information relating to the load cell capacity and its mV/V sensitivity to achieve accurate and fast calibration.

With the vessel empty, set-up is carried out via the keypad with prompts guiding the user through the simple procedure.

Once the zero has been set, the user then enters the data on the load cell capacity and sensitivity to complete the calibration process.

The DAS72, which can drive up to four 350 ohm load cells, comes as standard with a fast 600 samples per second 4-20mA analogue output and a RS422/485 multi-drop communication port.

The three programmable logic inputs and three open collector logic outputs can be used for a range of control functions including set point and alarm operation.

The unit can be powered by an unregulated 11-25 V DC power supply making it ideal for industrial and agricultural applications.

The DIN rail mounted version has a built-in digital display with a maximum display value of +/- 99,999 counts.

The DAS is part of weighing sensor techniques extensive range of Weight transmitters, weight controllers, digital displays, load cells and mounting assemblies.
