Only three inches deep, the HI 4050 general-purpose weight controller is the first of a new line of modular controllers by manufacturer Hardy. It is used in tank farm, batching/blending, filling/dispensing, check weighing, level by weight, and force measurement applications. The weight controller is now available with Profibus DP network communications. The HI 4000 Series controller's Profibus interface has passed testing and is certified by Profibus Nutzerorganisation e. V. that it meets all test specifications for a Profibus DP slave device. This certification stands for the continued quality of the product.
To meet your specific installation needs, the HI 4050 is available with AC or DC power and in panel, remote or blind DIN rail mounting packaging configurations. Installations are simplified with no special tools required to cut rectangular holes. Just use the included template to drill standard holes and install. The controller includes a standard Ethernet 10/100 Base T with an embedded web server and an RS 232 printer or scoreboard display port. Optional network communications over Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Modbus TCP or Analog are also available.
The HI 4050 weight controller includes weight controller manufacturer's core technologies:
WAVERSAVER, which eliminates the effects of surrounding vibration to provide a fast, stable weight display
C2, which allows for electronic calibration without the need for test weights
Secure Memory Module with Secure Digital (SD) card (SMM-SD), which allows manual transfer of configuration data to another instrument or PC using SD technology
INTEGRATED TECHNICIAN (IT) for batching system diagnostics and troubleshooting
Weight Controller improves plant flexibility
A Weight Controller that can remotely receive transmissions from a scale could help plants achieve greater efficiency, claim manufactures.
By enabling management to monitor information anywhere in the building, the Avery Weigh-Tronix E1110, offers the possibility of overseeing multiple scales simultaneously.
The Avery Weigh-Tronix HI 4050, when used with the optional SensorComm, enables an indicator to be located up to 850 feet away from a scale, which can be stand alone or integrated as part of a process. Situated at the plant's convenience, an operator can view the easy-to-read eight digit one-inch yellow LED display, from almost anywhere inside, the company claims.
The Weight Controller can be used for recipes, batch and filling as well as simple and in-motion weighing. The Truck Fleet Management system stores the weights of empty trucks before loading, so contents can be calculated, saving time for an operator.
"It's functionality is virtually limitless," said Tim Auger, industrial product manager for Avery Weigh-Tronix.
The HI 4050 can store up to 10 recipes with up to 50 programmable steps directly in the Weight Controller and perform process control, with no PLC required. Alternatively it can be easily integrated with existing industrial networks and SCADA systems.
The stainless-steel enclosed Weight Controller is also programmable for target counts, high low limits and will record individual product-in-package as well as total weight.
Included is an onboard Ethernet 10/100 TCP/IP interface and dual RS232/485/422 serial ports. The Weight Controller supports 12, 350 ohm Weigh Bars, which can be expanded to 16 and is powered by 110-230 VAC from the weight controllers manufacturer.
