This article is about a kinf os weight instrument from Flex with a digital filter and weight controller which is able to increase the measurement speed.

Penko Engineering has introduced the Flex weight instrument range, which is claimed to increase the industrial weighing machine measurement speed by 25 per cent thanks to a digital filter technique.
According to the company, a key factor affecting any weighing system is the strategy adopted to cope with variant digital readings caused by A-D settling, signal interference or vibration.
Penko's range of Flex weight instrumentation includes an approach to digital filtering that is claimed to be simple to set up and easy to visualise and that has been proven to increase measurement speed.
When activated, the filter provides two settings: for static or dynamic weighing applications.
A 'scope' display is incorporated in both the Flex weight instrument itself and the company's free PI software, which shows the result of the measurement system visually in real time.
By looking at the analogue graph displayed on either the weight instrument's own touch-screen display or the PC screen, while adjusting the cut-off frequency of the digital filter, the optimum setting can be reached quickly and accurately.
